All Company Meeting & Holiday Party Recap

One of our favorite times of the year happened at the beginning of December 2025. A time where all areas and divisions of the company meet under one roof and recap everything that has happened during the year. 2025, like any year, was a big year for us at ROERS. Each division head shared updates on upcoming projects, current projects, completed projects and current pursuits!

Before we dove into our 2025 recap, we had the pleasure of listening to David Wood and Shawn Kessel discuss the 7 Habits of Effective People. They discussed the 7 habits in detail and had a great on stage demonstration.

Holiday Party - organized by Heidi Knutson, Lindsey Fischer, Scott Wirth, Jenna Abraham and Samantha Foell

After an afternoon filled with updates, our team had the chance to kick back and relax during our annual holiday party that evening at the Sanctuary Event Center. We had a great meal provided to us by Chef’s Table before starting off the evening.

This year’s theme was “The Great Outdoors”. The stage transformed into a camping scene, while the tables were decorated perfectly around the room thanks to The White House Co. We had the pleasure of having a magician walk around during social hour and perform on stage for our employees. To mix things up, we had a variety of games with fantastic participation from all employees.

2025 was a year fill with memories, accomplishments and more. But 2026 will be even better as we celebrate 50 Years of Roers!

Welcome to the 1919 Flats

If you have been by our 1919 Flats building, previously known as the SGC Apartments, located in North Fargo, you may have noticed some changes on the first floor. This space has previously been used as office space for many years, but a new change is finally here. The entire first floor recently underwent a remodel adding 21 new apartments, a package room, a clubhouse, a gym, tons of parking and a new leasing office.

During the fall of 2023, our Roers Construction team started demolishing parts of the first floor. This included removing all the old offices, meeting rooms and more to bring us back to the studs and create a new space. As this building is all concrete (which is unique to the Fargo/Moorhead area for apartment living) and our team was working with already installed windows, the units all have a unique touch.

During the remodel, we also renamed this property from its original name of SGC Apartments to the 1919 Flats. We asked our employees to submit names, vote on their favorite and the overall choice was the 1919 Flats.

Each first-floor unit is different than the next unit. Some units are similar layouts for the above floors, but overall, they are unique in each way. This property features 45 different floor plans to choose from! The first-floor units also feature updated cabinets, large windows overlooking University Street and black ceilings. The main entrance has been moved and is now facing University Street.

This property previously did not feature any community spaces in the building. Our goal was to update the property by offering two new spaces for residents to enjoy. Across the hallway from our leasing office is the clubhouse space. Our clubhouse was designed from the team at HOM Furniture in Fargo. The overall product turned out better than we could have imagined. From the wood features to the blue accessories, you will find yourself relaxed in this space. Residents can even reserve the room for their next event!

Get your workout on in our new gym! Down the hallway from the elevator is the new gym. This gym features a variety of machines including a stair stepper, treadmills, variety of weight sets and more. This is a great space and bonus for residents to enjoy without having to leave home to workout.

If you are looking for a new place to live, contact our leasing team to schedule your tour of the 1919 Flats. To find out more about this project, visit our project page here.

All Smiles at SmileCare

SmileCare Dental, owned by Dr. Ryan Nygard, is a well-established family and cosmetic dental practice in Fargo, ND. We truly believe we are unlike any other dental experience.  It is their goal to provide you and your family with professional and comfortable care in a peaceful and clean office environment through state-of-the-art dental practices and technologies. While their equipment has been state-of-the-art since opening, Dr. Ryan wanted the building to match that.

This project was a 5,101 square foot interior and exterior remodel with a new parking lot and landscaping, as well as additional rental space. The goal was to keep the dental office operational throughout the entire process, so we completed the interior remodel in 2 phases. The interior remodel project consisted of a new layout, dental equipment, and implementing an all-around welcoming space. The exterior remodel consisted of new windows, siding, paint, building signage, landscaping and a new parking lot.

We visited with Roers Project Manager, Nate Mankie, to get some feedback regarding this project. Here is what he had to say:

What was your favorite part of the process?

My favorite part was watching the existing building go from old to new. I also enjoyed watching patients’ and passerby’s reactions as they saw the different stages of progress throughout the remodel.

With the dental office still operating, how did you avoid any issues during the remodel?

The key is maintaining optimal communication between Roers, SmileCare, and the subcontractors. With this, we were able to maintain our schedule to keep each piece running efficiently.

What was it like working on-site?

Everyone worked well on site. Everyone would help if there was a problem and put their heads together to come up with a solution. They would respect that the dental office was still open during construction and that some days we had to work around that but overall it was a good on-site experience.

What was a highlight of working on this project?

The highlight of the project for me was the completion of the exterior of the building. The exterior is like a first impression. It sets the tone for the experience, and I think it turned out great!

This remodel project offered a unique experience for our team, as we got to work along side an interior designer.

Monica Hart, Interior Designer, came in and assisted SmileCare in making the owner’s dream of a new space, with a timeless color pallet and feel, come to life. Dr. Ryan specifically asked for navy blue with an accent of mustard, so she built the palette and selections around that.

At Roers, we focus on building partnerships, so we asked Monica how her experience working with the Roers team was.

“Everyone at Roers was very efficient and organized – I really appreciated that!”

That efficiency and organization played a role in the success of this project. Happy contractor, happy interior designer, happy owner. This was such a fun project to be a part of, and we can’t wait for the next!

Check out the great images below that we received from Monica Hart.

U of Mary

Construction workers at the University of Mary put away the hard hats and put a halt to all the construction for one hour today to celebrate the grand opening of the school’s new residence hall at the center of campus.

Students, faculty, staff and honored guests officially marked the opening of the all-female, 276-bed residence hall with a festive ribbon-cutting ceremony, the unveiling of its new name, Roers Hall (pronounced Roars), and tours of the facility. Roers Hall is just steps east of Welder library tucked between two other residence halls, Greg Butler Hall and Hillside Hall, forming a neatly nestled quad that fosters more interaction among students.

“We are extremely grateful to the Roers family. Their faithfulness and devotion to Catholic higher education and their love for our students and the Benedictine Sisters of the Annunciation Monastery, founders and sponsors of the University of Mary, is an inspiration to us all,” said University of Mary President Monsignor James Shea. “Over the years Roers has expanded west from their home in Fargo, so they understand first-hand the growth we are experiencing in North Dakota, particularly in Bismarck and on our campus…”

U32 Neighbors Like What They See

FARGO (KFGO) – It’s called U-32.

The 5 story, $22 million apartment complex at 32nd Avenue and North University Drive in Fargo just opened. It didn’t always look that way. Neighbors fought the initial proposal, built on a 25 acre site that was a horse pasture. They took their concerns to Roers, the developer, and to city hall.

After months of meetings and discussion, changes were made to meet neighborhood opposition, and the project got the final city okay last summer. Pepper Eisenhardt helped lead the protest. He lives a block away. He was among several dozen neighbors invited to tour the complex this week. He calls the building “state-of-the-art” and “very impressive.”

Roers executive Larry Nygard says 80% of the 115 apartments are rented. He says there’s a nice mix of tenants, including students from NDSU, only a mile away, along with those with the North Dakota Air National Guard, and the Fargo V-A hospital, both nearby.

Nygard says plans for up to three more similar sized apartment buildings on the property could start two years from now, depending on demand.

MacKenzie River Pizza Breaks Ground

WEST FARGO — MacKenzie River Pizza has broken ground at 819 24th Ave. E. in West Fargo for its second restaurant in North Dakota.

Glacier Restaurant Group out of Whitefish, Mont., operates MacKenzie River Pizza, which also has a location in Bismarck. This will be the fourth location for franchisees Lance and Shoni Robinson.

“Shoni and I are thrilled to be opening a MacKenzie River here and know the community will love our scratch recipes and the fresh ingredients we use for our gourmet pizzas, juicy burgers, fish tacos and other offerings,” Lance Robinson said in a news release. “We are also excited about our beverage offerings including specialty cocktails, craft beers and our exclusive Driftboat Amber Ale, brewed by Great Northern Brewing Company out of Whitefish, Montana.”

The restaurant is set to open in the third quarter of 2018 and is expected to employ 80 to 90 workers.

Current MacKenzie River locations feature a casual rustic atmosphere with refurbished and felled lumber furnishings, antique outdoor sportsman finishes and photographs of the Rocky Mountains.
